William (Bill) Stanley peacefully passed away April 16, 2025, at Parkridge Center at the age of 78. He is predeceased by his sister, Marie Willis, his nephew, Derrick and his great nephew, Joshua.
Bill leaves behind lots of family that will miss him: Sister, Gloria (Raymond) Simpson, nephews, Jeff with kids Austin and Avery, Greg and niece Courtney. Also missing him is nephew, Ken (Rhonda) Willis, niece, Melanie (Steve) Inverarity, and their children Alex and Shelby and Bill Willis. Lots more family and friends enjoyed him over the years.
He had an interesting and challenging life. Early on, he worked for farmers around Ardath and Conquest, Sk. Then he moved on to working for CN Railway as part of a repair crew. In May 1970, he was injured in a car accident, suffering a massive brain injury and, against the doctors’ expectations, continued to live a full life for the next 55 years.
He loved coffee, smoking, KFC restaurants and especially biking. Bill was well known by many in Saskatoon for his biking, as people would see him all over the city. Music was a huge part of Bill’s life with favourite singers like Tommy Hunter, Elvis, Johnny Cash and The Beatles. He would always have these playing when he invited his niece, Melanie, over for supper.
I want to take this time to thank the Young family and all the KFC staff over the years for taking such great care of Bill. I also want to thank the Parkridge staff for all the care he received. He was a very stubborn guy with lots of attitude and a unique sense of humor. They tolerated him well. The family will be having a small graveside service to say goodbye in the near future.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for William Stanley.
