William Guskjolen

February 18, 1931 — May 2, 2025

WILLIAM (BILL) JOSEPH GUSKJOLEN, beloved family man, passed away quietly on May 2, 2025, at the age of 94 of natural causes in St Paul’s Hospital, Saskatoon.

Bill leaves to mourn his wife Joan, children James (Colleen), Daniel (Kim), Connie (Blaine), Steven (Lynn), Kathie (Rob), his beloved Grandchildren and Great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as foster children. He was predeceased by his first wife, Shirley Chamberlin, and sons: Dwayne and Chris, siblings James (Shirley), Vera (William), and Edna (Arnold).

Dad was born on February 18, 1931, at home in Aneroid, SK, to Ole and Elva Guskjolen. He always maintained a deep affection for the town of his birth and loved to regale us with stories of his childhood memories.

After serving and training with the Canadian Armed Forces as a Reservist (14 CDN Hussars, 8th Armoured Car Reg’t, “D” Squadron) he moved to Semans, SK, where he married and began raising his children.

Bill was always good with his hands. He loved woodwork, earned his Journeyman plumbing, heating, and gas fitting tickets, and then worked for over two decades as a certified Rehabilitation worker with the Workers' Compensation Board.

Dad loved camping in the outdoors and fishing. Anytime outside, in the workshop, or time spent with friends and family was time well spent for Dad. He liked adventures, especially going on epic road trips with the grandkids or visiting relatives in the States. Dad loved Christmas, decorations all over the place, and the whole family together.

William was known for his honesty, being a good role model within the churches he served, his work with the Foster Parents Association, and his involvement of almost 56 years with Alcoholics Anonymous, where he has enjoyed generational influence.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. William Guskjolen's care and arrangements.
