In Loving Memory of Verona Weber, March 22, 1942 - September 27, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Verona Weber, 84, on September 27, 2026. She fought bravely and held onto hope that she would come home. In the end, when her body had grown too tired to continue, she made the difficult decision to let go, finding peace surrounded by those who loved her.

Verona was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph, and will be deeply missed by her devoted children, Trent (Rhonda) and Leanne (Domenic); her grandchildren, Alicia (Tyler), Joseph, Tyler, Daniella (Paolo), and Adam; and her great-grandchildren, Maecy and Charlee.

She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Grace (Keith), and sister-in-law, Denise. She will be lovingly remembered by her sister, Jo (Jim), brother, Don, brothers- and sisters-in-law Betty (Stan), Marcie (Keith), Jean (Brian), Brenda, Robert (Viola), and David (Danine), as well as Joe and Ono, who predeceased her, and her many nieces and nephews.

Verona was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, on March 22, 1942, to Edward Vernon and Mary Campbell. The eldest of four children, she spent much of her youth helping her father on the family farm. Leaving school at a young age, she learned early the value of hard work, determination, and responsibility—qualities that stayed with her throughout her life.

With a desire to experience more, Verona moved to Saskatoon to pursue her passion for hairdressing at Marvel Beauty School. It was while attending school and boarding in Saskatoon that she met Ralph. They fell in love and were married in 1965. Trent was born in 1966, and Leanne in 1968.

Verona went on to work as a hairdresser at the Bessborough Hotel and later followed her passion by opening her own salon, La Rose Beauty Salon. She also enjoyed doing hair for friends from her home, giving perms, setting hair, and creating a welcoming place where friends could visit and catch up.

Family was always at the heart of Verona’s life. She was a devoted mother who never missed a dance class or competition, hockey game, or school activity, and always made sure her children had a home-cooked meal waiting or delivered. She was a fierce advocate for her children and did everything she could to give them opportunities to succeed. Creative and talented with her hands, Verona loved sewing, making costumes, cooking, baking, and gardening. She took pride in growing, pickling, and preserving what she grew and was known for her homemade bread, baking, jams, and countless meals shared with family and friends. The family also spent many hours picking Saskatoon berries—a chore that at the time was not appreciated by Trent and Leanne!

She loved bringing people together and treasured her friendships. She enjoyed coffee and birthday gatherings with her girl friends, pottery classes and card-making, and even hosted Chinese cooking classes in her home. She was always willing to share what she knew and had a gift for making people feel welcome. Her caring nature extended to those going through difficult times, always offering encouragement, understanding, and support when someone needed it.

Children held a special place in Verona’s heart. Over the years, she cared for children in her home, welcoming them with open arms and becoming deeply attached to them. They brought her tremendous joy and became, in many ways, an extension of her family.

Verona and Ralph shared a love of travel and adventure and made many wonderful memories with their family. They carefully planned family vacations, travelling to California, Florida, Toronto, the Dakotas, and Mount Rushmore, with plenty of interesting stops and adventures along the way. Weekends often meant having the camper ready to go and heading out as a family for camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors together.

As the years went on, Verona obtained her A1 licence so she could share the driving and travel alongside Ralph while he worked as a truck driver. Together, they travelled between British Columbia and Ontario, enjoying the journey and the many places they saw along the way.

Later in life, Verona and Ralph enjoyed their retirement years at their condo in Naples, Florida. They travelled by car or RV, made lasting friendships, attended RV rallies, welcomed visits from family, and enjoyed the warmth and relaxed lifestyle they had come to love.

One of Verona’s lifelong wishes was to see Alaska, and she was fortunate enough to make that dream come true in June by taking a cruise with Trent and Leanne—a special adventure and memory her family will always cherish.

Above all, Verona was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and devoted partner to Ralph. She gave so much of herself to the people she loved and found her greatest joy in caring for others. Her home, her kitchen, her garden, and her heart were always open.

She leaves behind a lifetime of memories—family gathered around the table, laughter shared with friends, adventures on the road, children welcomed into her home, beautiful creations made by her hands, and countless acts of love.

Her love, strength, creativity, and devotion will remain a part of her family forever.

She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
