It is with profound sadness that we are announcing the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Tena (Martens) Bailey. Tena passed away on May 11, 2025. After bravely fighting in the hospital for three weeks, she finally succumbed to health issues.
Left to mourn her passing; her devoted husband of 61 years Francis Bailey, her children Dean Bailey, James (Stephanie) Bailey, Steve (Paula) Bailey and Colleen (Chris) Shepley; her brothersHenry (Helen) Martens, Abe (Gail) Martens, Peter (Verna) Martens, Corney (Jackie) Martens, and sister Lena Berg. Her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousinsand friends. Tena was predeceased by her mother, Helen Martens; her father, Henry Martens; her brother, Dave Martens; her sister-in-law, Helen Martens; her brother-in-law, Abe Berg, and nephew Dallas Martens.
Tena was born August 22, 1945, to Henry and Helen Martens, the fifth of seven children. Born just North of Aberdeen, she lived there until she was 1 year old. At that time, the family moved to Love, SK, where they lived for 7 years. The family then moved to a farmhouse just outside the town of Warman, SK, for a season. Then the family made their final move to Martensville.
In 1960, Tena met Francis, and after dating for 3 years, they were married on July 27, 1963. They started their family soon after, remaining a devoted and loving couple for the next 61 years. Tena was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. There was no greater joy for her than the time she spent with her family. She was always there for those who needed her and gave her time freely. She was always a source of strength for the family. The one you could count on in the hard times and the easy times. Even though she was of small stature, her presence was large. Tena was such a sweet woman with a kind heart and was softspoken. However, she could surprise you with her silly, playful, and sometimes bawdy sense of humour.
Tena will be remembered for her delicious home-cooked meals and baking. She enjoyed spending her time outdoors, camping, fishing, travelling with her family and making memories that will stay with those who had the joy of spending those moments with her.
Although it is hard to see her leave, we know that her spirit is still with us. She is at peace and with God now. She will always be loved and will be greatly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in the Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central Street West, Warman, SK.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mrs. Tena Bailey's care and arrangements.
