With heavy hearts, the family of Sidney "Sid" Dean Holubetz announce his passing on August 1, 2026.

Surviving Sid is his mom, Elsie Mathews, brother Brian (Joan), niece Janelle (Jesse), nephews Taylor (Rhea) and Brett (Abby), and five great nephews.

Sid held a special place in his heart for his friends Terry and Elaine; their family became his second family. Sid was in his happy place spending time with Terry whether it was spent running errands, sitting on the deck chatting, at the cabin fishing or golfing.

Having lived in the Haultain area for most of his life, it cannot go without mentioning the special friendship Sid had with neighbours and friends Bill (Karen), Brad (Irina) and Marc (Carmen). Thank you for your friendship.

Sid often spoke about playing fastball in his younger years with the Imperial 400s. The relationship he had with his teammates and winning the Junior Canadian Championship was one of life’s highlights.

Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Emergency Services and RUH Emergency staff who provided comfort and care to Sid.

In honoring Sid’s request, there will not be a memorial service.
