Shirley Ann
Alberts
October 7, 1950 – June 9, 2026
We lovingly remember Shirley Anne Alberts, the eldest daughter of Harold and Lucienne “Lucy” Ritmiller. who was born on October 7,1950 in Regina, SK. and passed away on June 9, 2026 in Warman, Sask.
Shirley grew up in Regina with her two younger siblings Darrel and Janet. After finishing high school she married William “John” Alberts July 19/1969. The next day they watched the tv as the first man walked on the moon. They were married for almost 47 years. The newlyweds soon moved to Calgary where she had two children, Tracy and Troy. After a few years in Calgary the family moved back to her home town of Regina. They bought a nice home in the North East neighbourhood of Regina and continued to raise their family with several pets along the way.
Shirley became a federal employee which she continued for her entire career, working for the Post Office, Weights & Measures, Canada Unemployment, finally finishing her career off at the Canada Unemployment Centre in Saskatoon where she retired.
The family lived in several locations over the years, Calgary, Regina, North Battleford, and an acreage West of Saskatoon. With the majority of their time spent in Regina in the early years and their acreage West of Saskatoon in later years.
Shirley enjoyed raising her two children, going to several sporting events to support and transport her kids, hockey, ringette, baseball, softball, etc. She loved visiting for coffee with her mother, Lucy, and other relatives. Shirley cherished the times spent visiting at lakes & family farms from her youth which she shared with her family.
Shirley loved animals, having several over the years, large dogs were always present in the house. Rottweilers became part of the family from the mid 80’s till later in life. She participated in shows and obedience classes with our first Rotties: Shocolate & Savannah, championing Shocolate in both Show & Obedience. Myla was her last Rottweiler companion.
The acreage life and later retirement allowed Shirley to enjoy her Appaloosa horses & Rottweiler dogs with the space and freedom of rural living. She also enjoyed puzzles and could always be seen with a cup of coffee, a cigarette, and a stack of puzzles. Reading & crosswords were also a passion of Shirleys and she had several books, Harlequin Romance Novels being her favourite.
Shirley also spent lots of time with her grandchildren Kelsey, Parker, and Danielle; taking them to school or getting them ready for the bus.
Shirleys final years were spent at the Diamond House Care Home in Warman. The first year accompanied by her Rottweiler Myla. Diamond House nurses and staff definitely made her final years memorable and she was well taken care of! Thank You to the staff of Diamond House!
