ROSE HELEN ROGERS (Pietrucha-Boisvert)

We celebrate the life of our wonderful loving Rose. She made our lives better. Rose died of cancer at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on June 24 and was cremated June 25 at Cherished Memories Funeral Home and Crematory in Martensville. Her love will remain forever in the hearts of her family: husband Tom Rogers, daughter Shawna & John Hignett, son Vern and Teresa Boisvert, daughter Jane and Carter Marshall, son John and Jasmine Rogers, 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Rose was born on the family farm near Foam Lake, Saskatchewan. She was the 12th of 14 children born to her Polish-Ukrainian parents, Lucas (Roy) Pietrucha 1903-1983 and Katarzina (Katherine) Stanicka 1906-1947. Rose's mother died at the birth of the 14th child. Three siblings died in their youth: John, Stanley, and Andrew.

Rose's remaining siblings and spouses, alive and deceased+, are: Mike+ & Lillian Pietrucha, Steve+ & Tillie+ Pietrucha, Molly+ & Pete+ Wengrowich, Phil+ & Cora+ Petrucha, Angie & Max+ Lazeski, Olga & Walter Majola, Jean+ & Pete+ Krywulak, Josie & Norm+ Stone, Cathy & John+ Topp, and Tonie & Joe+ Chornomitz.

Rose's inlaws are Doreen & John+ Baker, Jim & Judy Rogers, Barry & Kate Rogers, and Judy & Craig Perras-Lenz.

Rose survived many difficulties, but her life changed in 1990 when she married Tom. They celebrated 35 years of marriage on May 12, 2025. They were very happy together and loved each other dearly. Rose accompanied Tom during assignments with the Canadian foreign affairs department in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1998, Warsaw Poland in 2003, and for some business trips in North America, one after which they had a honeymoon at Niagara Falls. During and after Tom’s foreign assignments Rose and Tom visited cousins in Ukraine, Poland, Germany and France. In 2009 they spent 80 days going almost around the world attending a cousin’s wedding in Ukraine, visiting cousins and friends in Europe and India. They ended their globe travel with a tour of Italy and a cruise from Venice to Ft. Lauderdale where they joined Tom’s brothers and spouses for more visits and a return to Saskatchewan. During their years together they often visited family and cousins in Canada, the USA, and Costa Rica.

During their marriage and life in Saskatoon Rose ran ‘Mrs. Rogers Daycare’ at home, worked as manager of dietary services for Mazenod House, supported dietary services for Calder Centre, and Sisters of Zion care home, accepted International Students, and offered Airbnb accommodations. Rose loved keeping her home clean and organized, hosting events and dinners at home, baking, cooking, telling jokes, and spending time with family and friends. Rose wrote an autobiography recently, which Tom will complete and print, with help from Rose’s large family.

During the last two days of Rose’s life at RUH in Saskatoon, a family of nearly 30 people visited her private room to provide their love and support. Rose was barely conscious and could not talk. As several people and grandchildren approached giving her kisses and love Rose’s eyes flickered and a few tears ran down her face. She surely had some knowledge that the family was with her, and she provided tears of love.

The family gives thanks for the Canadian/Saskatchewan health care system, 811, 911, ambulances and EMTs, RUH Staff, the Cancer Centre staff and the many doctors and other hospital staff who provided care and attention during Rose’s illness and final hours.

A Funeral and Interment of Rose’s ashes will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, 10:00 am, at Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cemetery, 210 Wess Road, Saskatoon.

Following a time for fellowship, Rose’s ashes will be interred at the cemetery’s Garden of Last Supper. The funeral will be livestreamed and recorded for viewing at https://youtube.com/live/9U5Y1RK8f7k?feature=share
