IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert
Lewis
Celebration of Life
Hampton Free Methodist Church
Starts at 1:00 pm (Central (no DST) time)
Robert Charles Henry Lewis passed away at the age of 73 into glory land in the Saskatoon RUH Hospital. Bob was the second child and only son of Helen and Gordon Lewis. He had three sisters, firstborn Elaine and then Patricia and Karen. Bob attended school in Saskatoon, and while navigating through grade 12, he met the new girl at his sister’s place of residence. He took a shine to her right away and started finding reasons to visit her.
Bob got engaged to Betty in the fall of 1973 and joined the army to have a stable job. They got married and moved to Winnipeg with a car full of wedding gifts and a few hundred dollars in hand in the summer of 1974. They lived in Winnipeg for 2 and a half years. Bob did not want to go overseas without his wife, so he resigned from the army. They moved back to Saskatoon, and he got a job working with the city transit (1976-2004).
Together they had three children, Christopher, Heather and Pamela. Family was important, and in the summer, the family went fishing and water skiing at Turtle Lake, where Gordon and Helen had a cabin. They enjoyed travelling as a family and, after retirement, took a few friends on California holidays. They visited Hawaii, Alaska, Uk, Ireland, Iceland, Europe and Israel, as well as trips across Canada to northern Yukon and to the west and east coasts.
Bob and his wife actively embraced their church families. They attended the Fairhaven Bible Chapel, the EFC church and currently the HFM church. They also served at various times at Strasbourg Bible camp, Little Manitou Bible camp and Copper Island Bible Camp as kitchen help or cooks. Bob enjoyed conversing with people, whether driving bus during his career or being the church greeter in his last decade. He loved to greet people with a friendly tease, and everybody knew Bob.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty and their son Christopher (Lana), daughter Heather, grandson Dameon and granddaughter Hendrix; and daughter Pamela (Dustin), granddaughters Keira, Avery and grandson Micah: his three sisters, sister Elaine (Richard), nieces Darlene, grand niece Megan; niece Sharon; sister Patricia (Peter), nephew Robert (Katharina), niece Jennifer (Alex), grand niece Sophie; and sister Karen (Garry), niece Twyla (Sean), grandniece Adeline and nephew Colin. He is survived by two sisters-in-law, Pat (Gene), nephew Andrew, grandnieces Anastazia, Veronika, Karoline; niece Amanda, grandnephew Silas; and sister-in-law Cathy and ex-daughter-in-law Tracy and many good friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Helen Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ranger Lake Bible Camp, Arlington Beach Bible Camp, Canadian Bible Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.
