Myrna Loy Venne

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Myrna Loy Venne, who left us on June 27, 2025, just 65 years after her arrival on June 18, 1960. Myrna spent her early years in Humboldt, Saskatchewan, leaving to Saskatoon for a number of years before returning to Humboldt.

Myrna spent her early life in the Plemel foster home near Humboldt. She considered the Plemel family as part of her extended family, as well as a number of her foster brothers and sisters.

Myrna’s legacy are her three children: Carey Venne, Michael Venne, and Dr. Jaime Lavallee. She is survived by her two brothers, James Venne and Michael Theissen, as well as her (foster) brother Wes Bignoise. Myrna was predeceased by her parents, Aldina Irene Venne and Augustus (Gus) Bird; and (foster) sister Dorothy Kequahtooway.

Myrna was a voracious reader, a passion that led her to be a regular presence at the local library, where she also generously volunteered her time. Her compassionate spirit extended to her community, as she also dedicated many hours to the food bank and other local endeavours. Myrna had a surprising sense of humour and quick wit. She will be deeply missed by her family and all who know her.

Service Information

A funeral service to celebrate Myrna's life will be held at the church at Muskeg Lake Cree Nation on August 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. with the Internment to follow. A light lunch will be served at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Saskatchewan Public Library or your local food bank.
