Obituary

Merv went to be with Jesus at St. Paul’s Hospital on April 9, 2026.

Merv was born in Lampman, Saskatchewan, to Jake and Freda Weiler. He enjoyed a fulfilling career at Merlin Motors for many years. He loved to fish and golf, and especially cherished time at the cabin at Martin’s Lake. Merv enjoyed sharing funny stories and jokes to make people smile. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything.

He was blessed to have Mary Weiler (wife), Bonnie (Larry) Tholl (daughter), and Kirk (Sue) Weiler (son).

He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Christopher (Courtney) Tholl, Amanda Tholl, Shanna Weiler (Stephen Borysiak), and Joshua Weiler (Micah Strueby); and great-grandchildren Jake and Luke Tholl, with another little one expected soon.

Merv is also survived by his brother, Lanny (Jan) Weiler, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was predeceased by his wife, Faye Weiler; his parents, Jake and Freda Weiler; his sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Louis Selk; and his brother and sister-in-law, Harold (Iona) Weiler.

A celebration of Merv’s life will be held at Erindale Alliance Church on Wednesday, April 15 at 1:00 p.m. (310 Perehudoff Crescent, Saskatoon).

Interment will take place prior to the service in Hepburn, in a private family gathering.

The family extends their thanks to Martens Warman Funeral Home for their care and arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Merv’s memory to:

Thank you as well to Myrna and Dalton Varga, and their care home staff, for making his time there so comfortable.

Our deepest thanks to the palliative care team at St. Paul’s Hospital. The kindness and love they showed us was overwhelming. Thank you.
