Mervin Edward Nordness passed away on January 26, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, he grew up on the family farm near Nora. After high school, Mervin spent a few years in the military before going on to earn his journeyman certificate in welding and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. He spent the bulk of his career as a welding instructor at SIAST in Saskatoon.

Mervin was an accomplished wood and metal worker, a faithful dog trainer, who participated in the sport of Schutzhund with the Central Plains Schutzhund Club and cherished his summers at Besnard Lake. He is survived by his wife, Judith; daughters, Allison (Leon) Vande Velde and Kirsten (Michael) Kos; grandchildren, James, Isaac and Sasha; and great grandson Daniel.

A service will be held Sunday, January 25 at 2:00 pm at Cherished Memories, 591 Centennial Dr N, Martensville, SK.
