Mary is the oldest of nine children born to John and Anna Ginther. John Ginther earned his living working on farms, which meant the family moved frequently to follow the work.
At the early age of fourteen, mom quit school to help at home. At 16, she began working on different farms herself. At 22, she met her future husband, Jacob Braun. They married on June 25, 1961.
The hard-working couple settled in Warman where they raised their six children. Mary was a stay-at-home mom and became self-employed in 1976, sewing drapes from our home. In 1989, with all the children grown, mom took a job outside the home at Distinctive Draperies and the Blind Factory where she worked until her retirement in 2005.
After retirement, you would find Mom volunteering and helping whenever and wherever there was a need. Her life was filled with kindness and grace. Losing a mother is one of the most painful experiences in life. Even when you know it is coming, nothing can really prepare you for the heart-wrenching sense of loss.
The bond between mother and daughter is profound. When a daughter loses her mother, the grief runs deep. Thank you for teaching us strength, compassion, and what it means to be a woman. A mother’s love shapes her son in so many ways. Your kindness and sensitivity for others inspired us to be better men. You exemplified selflessness in everything you did.
This is not goodbye forever, but rather until we meet again. Rest in peace, dear mom.
