Marlene passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026. She was born in Tisdale, SK and spent her first 12 years in Bjorkdale, SK. Then her parents, Helen & Frank, moved to Saskatoon where Marlene finished high school in three years from the Bedford Road Collegiate Accelerated program while also working part-time . She completed a course at Edwards School of Business and, then, worked at an insurance company in Assiniboia, SK. From there Marlene went on to Winnipeg, Calgary and Toronto. While she was in Winnipeg she took computer courses and qualified as an executive assistant. She worked mostly as an office ‘temp’ and loved the challenge of it. She went on to live in Britain and then Perth, Australia with her partner, Jim. Eventually they moved to an acreage in Fredericton, NB and then, she moved back to Saskatoon where she lived for the rest of her life.

Marlene had two passions in life. The first was her love of dogs. She always had a dog and she volunteered at the SPCA to keep their books and to foster puppies. The second was baseball - Blue Jays all the way! She hardly missed a game on TV and actually went to a number of games in Toronto when she lived there. Her cousins, Glenn and Doug shared this passion and sometimes came from Calgary to Saskatoon to watch games on TV with her. Marlene also really enjoyed going to the Casino, especially with her Aunt Em in Calgary.

Although Marlene suffered from many ailments, she was always an upbeat person with strong convictions of right & wrong & concern for the environment. She set a wonderful example by tending to the needs of some residents in her beloved neighbourhood, such as doing income tax returns for the elderly, driving people to appointments and helping out with issues that required assistance, such as obtaining fresh farm eggs for her elderly neighbour and helping out with technical issues, whether it was a computer, cell phone or fixing a toaster. These were tasks that provided a huge comfort for the people receiving them.

Marlene was meticulous in her work and in her life. She was witty and fun to be with.

Marlene’s parents predeceased her and she had no children. It has been left to her cousins and friends to mourn her passing. A Celebration of Life will be held later this summer.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of her favourite charities - The Red Cross, The Salvation Army or the SPCA.
