Margaret Chorney passed away peacefully on June 6th, 2026, at the Cozy Nest Care Home. Margaret was born to John and Ruby Oliver on Oct 19, 1938, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The family moved to Canada and settled in Edmonton, Alberta, where Margaret met the love of her life, John Chorney. They were married on March 14, 1959, in Edmonton, Alberta and enjoyed 60 happy years together. Margaret worked at the Edmonton Journal as a proofreader until she decided to be a stay-at-home mom and raise her two children, Sandra and Johnathon.

Margaret is survived by her two children, Sandra (Ben) Busch and Johnathon (Sylvia) Chorney, her four beautiful granddaughters, Sarah (Matt) Hardy, Shantel (Casey) Kalika, Kennedy Chorney and Kaitlynn Chorney, and three wonderful great-grandchildren, Madison Hardy, Brandt Hardy and Carter Kalika. Margaret is predeceased by her mother, father and her loving husband John.

Margaret enjoyed reading, travelling, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Margaret loved animals and had numerous pets throughout her life. Margaret had an infectious smile and a willingness to always help others.

Our family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Cozy Nest Care Home for the exceptional care given to Margaret during her time there.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Saskatoon SPCA or any animal rescue association.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Mrs. Chorney.
