Lynn Louise Hicke passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26th, following a stoic battle with AL Sand Frontotemporal Dementia at Porteous Lodge care home with her children, Troy, Mandy, and Eric, her daughter-in-laws, Jessica and Bev, and her sister, Caroline, at her side.
Lynn was born in Churchill, Manitoba, to Lorraine and Earl Garrioch, but her family soon settled in Victoria, British Columbia, where she spent most of her life and raised her children. In 2015, Lynn moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, to be near her son Troy(Jessica). Jessica shared a special bond with Lynn and played an important role in her care as Lynn’s illness progressed.
Forever loved and remembered by her children; Troy(Jessica), Mandy(Drew), and Eric(Bev); grandchildren, Benny, Anthony, and Maria; siblings, Caroline(Bob), Ernie, Dick, and Phil; many nieces, nephews, and friends; her lifelong friend, Michelle.
Predeceased by her parents, nephew Jay, niece Amiee, brother Brian, brother Les, and twin sister Gwen.
Lynn will be remembered for her easy-going nature, good sense of humor, love of her family, and thoughtful handmade gifts. Lynn was exceptionally talented with cross stitch, knitting, and crocheting. She also worked with stained glass at a job in Victoria and decorated cakes at the Coop Bakery. She was always up for a game of Crib or Bingo and loved her trips to the casino. In her final hours, she said her greatest accomplishment in life was being a mother.
The family wishes to extend our sincere gratitude to the team of medical professionals and the staff at Porteous Lodge for the care they provided to Lynn during her journey with ALS-FTD.
“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”
A Celebration of Life will take place in Victoria, British Columbia, at a future date.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with Lynn's care and arrangements.
