Obituary

With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Louis Joseph John Bayet. Born on March 12, 1954, Louis passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 12, 2026, surrounded by family and loved ones at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, at the age of 71.

Louis’s story began in Biggar, Saskatchewan, and he was raised on a farm near Landis by his parents, Anne Marie and Emile Bayet. He grew up alongside five siblings, learning the values of hard work, family, and perseverance. He will be dearly missed by his surviving sisters, Bernie (John) Caleo, Irene (Francis) Veitenheimer and Collette Bayet.

Louis later moved to Saskatoon, where he met and married the love of his life, Lillianne Hounjet, on March 23, 1974. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage, building a life grounded in love, family, and unwavering commitment.

Louis was a devoted father to his three children—Christopher Bayet, Candace (Ian) Cameron, and Curtis (Larissa) Bayet. He was an immensely proud grandfather to thirteen grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to five great-grandchildren, all of whom he loved deeply and wholeheartedly.

For 46 years, Louis dedicated himself to his career at the Allan Potash Mine, where he was respected for his strong work ethic, loyalty, and unwavering dedication.

Outside of work, Louis found joy in the simple pleasures of life—camping, cars, telling jokes, sharing stories, and, above all, being surrounded by his large and loving family. Laughter filled every room he was in, and time spent together meant everything to him. Those moments, stories, and laughs will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.

A celebration honouring Louis’s life will be held on the evening of March 14, 2026, at St. Anne’s Hall. A blessing will take place at 7:00 p.m., followed by a celebration where family and friends are invited to gather, remember, and honour a life so well lived.

Louis will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mr. Bayet's care and arrangements.
