He was predeceased by his father and mother, sister Edna Tuplin, brothers Gordon and Lindsay, sister-in-law Ramona Holmes, and brother-in-law Harold Tuplin.

His love of horses began at an early age and continued his entire life. He became a jockey at age 15, and in later years he owned and trained thoroughbred racehorses.

Lloyd purchased the family farm, the Red & White store in Paynton, and owned and operated the school buses for Paynton School Division. He was on Town Council for 29 years; 9 years as a Councillor and 20 as the Mayor.

Lloyd was a true community volunteer; he was on the Fire Department, Recreation Board, Credit Union Board, Canadian Foresters, Curling Club, the 2003 Homecoming Committee, he coached softball and was a 4H leader.

In 2006, Lloyd and Lynn moved back to the family farm, and he became an RM Councillor, from 2007–2016. He was awarded the Diamond Jubilee medal in 2013, in recognition of his contribution to the community.

Lloyd and Lynn moved to Martensville in August of 2023, due to his health challenges. Lloyd entered the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home in January 2024, where the staff soon became his second family.

The Celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, 2:00 p.m., at Cherished Memories Funeral Home, 591 Centennial Drive North, Martensville, SK.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Lloyd’s memory can be made to the Warman Mennonite Special Care Home – Anna’s Garden. Lloyd spent many hours there, and it became his “happy place.”
