Obituary

Linda Francis Klassen (Hildebrandt)
July 17, 1937 – October 15, 2026

Mom passed away peacefully in the afternoon of October 15, 2026, at the age of 89 years.

Survived by her daughter Sharon (Tim) Doell and son Steven. 5 Grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren: Melanie (Jon) Unger, Kanyan and Blayre; Raegan (Curtis) Unruh, Jada and Taylor; Larissa (Landon) Wangler, Myles; Jessica (Dalton) Matzner; and Christopher Klassen. Also survived by sisters Betty (Jake) Banman, Frieda (Abe) Teichroeb, Sylvia Friesen, and Irene Hildebrandt, and sisters-in-law Dianne Hildebrandt and Tena Baun. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins, and other relatives.

Predeceased by her husband Corney Klassen on October 15, 1990. Her father Wilhelm and mother Anna (Friesen) Hildebrandt, Sister Edna (John) Wall, brothers Ed (Mary) Hildebrandt, Ernie Hildebrandt, brother-in-law Dan Friesen, special friend John Friesen, and many in-laws from the Klassen family.

Mom was born July 17, 1937, and grew up with her brothers and sisters on a farm just outside of Neuhorst, Sask. She attended school in Neuhorst, as well as taking some schooling by correspondence.

She met Corney Klassen and they were married October 1st, 1960. They resided in Warman. Daughter Sharon came along in 1961, and Steven a few years later in 1966. She worked outside of the home briefly but then decided to stay home and take care of her children.

Mom enjoyed curling, and since Dad was a curler as well, they spent many hours at the rink every week in winter. She curled in both the ladies and mixed leagues. Great friendships were formed with the ladies, and a group of them continued to celebrate each other for many years after.

Dad passed away at the age of 55, leaving mom in a big house and all alone. She decided after a few years that she didn’t want the responsibility of taking care of a house, especially one that was starting to age. She moved into the newly built Vista Manor, and that would be her home for the next 30 years. Mom was one of the first people to move in and took care of the cleaning of the common areas, as well as sitting on the Board for many years.

During this time, John Friesen, a friend of Mom and Dads, was recently widowed and asked mom for coffee. That was the start of a friendship that lasted 20 plus years. After John’s passing a couple of years ago, Mom found it very hard to be alone, and her health started to decline, which led us to the decision to move her to a personal care home where she remained until a week before her passing.

We are forever grateful for every memory, every lesson, and every moment we shared with mom, even in her final moments she found a way to bring humour and light into our lives.

She will live on forever in our hearts, we love you, until we meet again Mom.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 in Martens Warman Funeral Home, 402 Central Street West, Warman with Rev. Ed Martens officiating. Interment will take place at Warman Cemetery.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Mrs. Klassen.
