Lawrence Cecil Harkins, born on November 17, 1946, departed this world on October 10, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love, resilience and cherished memories. A devoted father, brother, and friend, Larry embraced life with an open heart and an unwavering spirit that inspired all who crossed his path.
Larry is survived by his beloved children, Laurie Ernest (Calvin), Jeffrey Harkins (Melissa), and Ryan Harkins, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him boundless joy. He shared a special bond with his siblings: Elda Barnes, James (Jim) Harkins, Henry Harkins, and Josey St. Jacques, whose laughter and love created a rich tapestry of family memories. He is also lovingly remembered by his aunt, Yvonne McCaffrey, and uncle, Danny Arnault, along with a host of nieces and nephews who carry forward his warm legacy.
His heart, however, still aches for those he has lost. He was predeceased by his cherished daughter, Lorna Michelle Ernest, whose light continues to shine brightly in the hearts of her family. Larry also mourns for his special friend, Mary Roller, with whom he shared countless memories. His parents, George (Bud) Harkins and Madeline (Arnault) Harkins. He is reunited in spirit with his grandparents, Wilfred and Lydia Harkins, and Alfred and Josephine (Rose) Arnault, who laid the foundation of love that nourished him throughout his life. The loss of his grandson, Jeremy Ernest, remains a deep sorrow in the hearts of those who loved him. Larry also grieves for his siblings, Barb Matchee and David Harkins, leaving behind a gap in the family circle.
Throughout his life, Lawrence found joy in the simple pleasures, often sharing stories that entertained and inspired. His laughter was a balm to those around him, and his kindness left indelible marks on many souls. Though no longer with us, his spirit lives on in the precious memories held by his family and friends. Larry's journey has touched countless lives, and his legacy will forever remind us to embrace each day with the love and compassion he embodied. He will be deeply missed but cherished in the hearts of those who loved him.
Lawrence's Wake Service will begin on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at the Flying Dust Gymnasium. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Flying Dust Gymnasium that will be Elder led.
