Kerra Lyn Burns

August 9, 1991 — April 24, 2025

Kerra Lyn BurnsAugust 9, 1991 – April 24, 2025From the day she was born in Grande Prairie, Alberta, until her passing in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Kerra made a lasting impression on all those who shared her path.

Kerra grew up in Crooked Creek, living every farm girl’s dream – riding horses and caring for animals. Growing up with two older brothers forged her strong spirit and sense of humour in a way that only constant teasing can!

Kerra’s love for animals and the outdoors continued to be a staple in her adventures throughout her life. Kerra loved to travel, paddleboard, or relax by the fire on the beach or in the backyard. Across the three western provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, Kerra made countless friends who will carry cherished memories of Kerra forever.

Of Kerra’s large circle of friends, her close friend and roommate Cortnie shared a great number of these adventures with her. As Cortnie says, “Kerra was one of a kind, and her smile lit up every room she ever walked into!”

After graduation, Kerra went on to work in the hospitality industry. Eventually, that led to her longtime career with ATCO. First at the Site C Dam, and then to Jansen Mine in Saskatchewan, where she continued her work with ATCO in her new role as Finance Lead.

Her co-workers have shared these words for Kerra:

“Kerra was more than a co-worker; she was a friend who treated everyone like family, embracing them with warmth that, while boisterous, was always heartfelt. We remember her unwavering willingness to help, her generosity, and how (despite workplace stresses) she always made time for her colleagues. Kerra was a beautiful person in every way – we will deeply miss our talks, her laughter, her sharp wit and dark sense of humour, and especially her genuine care and ability to prop others up.
Her spirit and love will echo in our hearts; her infectious laugh, smile, and zest for life will be cherished and never forgotten.”

Kerra, despite her ‘fun-sized’ stature, was truly larger-than-life. She radiated life, love, and generosity, and she enveloped those around her in that radiant light which will be deeply, deeply missed.

Kerra leaves behind her loving parents, Len and Tracey Burns; brothers Jesse (Sam) and Duston(Erin), and the many nieces and nephews she loved beyond measure: Huxley, Eberley, Charley, Brodie, and Ferrah; also many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and colleagues.

A celebration of life will be held August 9, 2025, in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
