Kelly McCrea

September 20, 1964 — May 20, 2025

It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of Kelly Dean McCrea on May 20, 2025, at the age of 60, after a brave 5-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. Born September 20, 1964, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Kelly was a beloved husband, father, brother and a friend who touched the lives of all who knew him.

Kelly was predeceased by his parents, Wilma and Leonard McCrea, his brother Bob and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Kelly’s journey of hard work began around the age of 16, stuccoing with his father and some of his brothers, where he developed the strong work ethic that would shape his life. He transitioned into the hotel industry, building friendships that lasted a lifetime, before finding his true calling in the shipping and receiving at Hitachi, where he worked for 16 years and beame a highly respected employee. Even after Hitachi’s closure, Kelly’s dedication and reputation brought him back to the same plant, where Brandt is now operating. Where he worked for an additional four years before beginning his cancer journey.

Kelly’s family was always his top priority and cherished the time spent with his loved ones. He was a man of deep faith, finding strength and comfort in his relationship with the Lord. He also had a lifelong passion for the Montreal Canadiens, sharing countless memorable games with his youngest son Ivan. Kelly found joy in attending car shows and sharing stories about his pride and joy when he was younger of his 1970 Dart Swinger.

Kelly’s greatest pride was his family, a beloved husband to his wife, Patricia, and a loving father to his three children: Alex, Theodore and Ivan. He is also remembered by his four sisters and four brothers: Peggy Sparrow, Jake (Marie) McCrea, Betty McCrea, Wendy (Warren) Buss, Lyle (Lorraine) McCrea, Laurie (Barry) Knutson, David (Melanie) McCrea and Danny (Nicole) McCrea, many nieces and nephews, Great-Aunts and uncles, as well as many friends.

Kelly’s warmth, humor, and kindness left a permanent mark on everyone he met. He was a man who always put others first before him, always offering a helping hand, a kind word or just a simply listening ear. Even in his final days, his strength, positivity and humor inspired those around him.

A celebration of Kelly’s life will be held on June 14, 2025, at 2:00 pm, at Grace-Westminster United Church (505 10th St E) Dress Code: Hockey jersey/casual.
