Kathleen Storrie

May 17, 1930 — October 12, 2025

Kathy Storrie passed peacefully on a Sunday - the Lord's Day - at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon.

She was born in Minas Gerais, Brazil, to missionary parents Doris and Albert Storrie. Her first language was Portuguese, as was the case for her three siblings, Margaret (Margie) Thomas, Denis Storrie, and her twin sister Enid Graham - all of whom have predeceased her.

She was educated at the University of London, Dalhousie University, and the University of British Columbia. For twenty-five years, she was a member of the Department of Sociology at the University of Saskatchewan, where she was a pioneer in gender studies.

She helped to found two Christian feminist organizations: Canadian Women & Religion and the Friends of Sophia. Kathy also co-founded Tamara's House - an organization which provided services for female survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Kathy was active in the Anglican Church and helped create a report for the church on violence against women. She also was a member of the Board of the Saskatoon Community Clinic for a few years. She was inducted into the Women's Hall of Fame, in 2000, by the Saskatoon Council of Women.

Throughout her life her great courage was matched by her great sense of humour. She had a keen intelligence, a strong faith and was a loyal friend.

She was much loved and is missed by her biological son Paul Graham & all of her other nephews & nieces: Jane Hildreth, Vicky Woodmore, Simon Storrie, Sarah Woodburn, Susie Lefferson, John Graham and many great nieces and nephews.

Kathy was once featured in the Star Phoenix under the headline, "Champion of Social Justice" with an article about her life and work. In it she shared that "God led me to Canada, to a new environment where I found my voice and the freedom to work for social justice. I will always be grateful to Canada and to the many women and men who have been such wonderful companions."

All are welcome to Kathy's funeral service at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 25, at St. John's Cathedral, 816 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon, S7K 3H4.
