Tina was born on a stormy night on Dec. 3, 1936, near Neuhorst, Sask. She grew up on a farm there. (except for a short time in Elm Creek, Manitoba) She received Christ as her saviour as a young girl and in her teens sang in a ladies’ quartet with her sister Ann, Mary Friesen (Leoppky) and Helen Neudorf (Leoppky). They were very popular and sang on the radio several times. Her love for Christ was strong, and Tina was a real prayer warrior. When she prayed, things started to happen.
Tina married Gilbert Peters on July 22, 1955. In this union, they were blessed with 4 children. Kelvin (Nettie), Ken (Mary), Darrell (Carmen) and Lorraine (Russ) Buhr. As well as 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. They lived in Saskatoon for the first years of marriage, then moved to the farm west of Martensville, until they retired in 2006 and moved to Osler, Sask. Gilbert passed away in August of 2010, and Tina continued to live in Osler until 2015 when she moved to Bethany Manor in Saskatoon.
Tina loved gardening, cake decorating, ceramics, basket weaving, cooking and fishing. She even won a fishing derby once with a 20 lb. jack. But most of all, Tina loved her Saviour Jesus Christ and her family. Any occasion was a good reason for a gathering. Everyone in the family was invited. And if someone brought a friend along, they suddenly became one of the family. Tina would love them as much as her own. Soon they would be calling her gramma, and she loved it.
After nearly 10 years at Bethany, Tina had a bad fall, and after a lengthy stay in hospital, Tina moved to Spruce Manor Special Care Home in early March of 2025, but without the use of her legs. Tina lived there until October 17, when she became ill and, after a short hospital stay, passed away at 11:23 pm on October 18. Tina will be greatly missed by her immediate family as well as surviving siblings, brothers and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. As well as many friends.
Tina’s celebration of life will be on October 27, 2026, at 11 am at Dalmeny Bible Church, with a viewing the evening before at 7 pm at Martens Funeral Home, 402 Central Street West, Warman, Sk.
