In Loving Memory of June Marylynn (Gemmell) Harder

June Marylynn (Gemmell) Harder, beloved daughter, sister, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2023, at the age of 71 in her hometown of Saskatoon, SK. She was born on June 6, 1952, in Saskatoon, SK, to Eveline Sutcliffe (Jackson) and Gordon Meredith Gemmell. She was the youngest of their five children: Isabelle, Joan, Mary, and Lynn.

June’s early years were filled with joy and laughter. She attended Caswell Hill Elementary School and later Bedford Road High School, playing on many sports teams and involved in school clubs. June found enjoyment in various occupations throughout her life, including her time spent at the Saskatoon Public Library.

June’s legacy lives on through her loving family. She is survived by her daughter Heather Harder (son-in-law Zamir Khan) and her son Dave Harder. June cherished her role as a grandmother to her adored grandchildren: Sebastian, Ryan, and Espen Khan. She leaves behind her sisters: Joan Sande, Mary Burfitt, and Lynn Gemmell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and former spouse, Larry Harder. She will be deeply missed by countless friends from her youth, Parkview Presbyterian Church, St. Andrew’s Church, and the Community Renal Health Centre. June spent cherished time at Sherbrooke Community Centre, visiting her son Dave.

June had a genuine gift for making everyone feel included and valued. She held her relationships close to her heart, and her warm and gentle nature endeared her to those who knew her. June’s love for her family and close friends was unwavering, and she took great care and pride in supporting her son Dave throughout his journey to recovery.

Music held a special place in June’s heart, and she often expressed her passion through singing. For many years, she lent her beautiful voice to the church choir, spreading harmony and joy. Whether it was an impromptu sing-along in the car or sharing a favorite song on the radio, June’s love for music was contagious and brought smiles to those around her.

A Celebration of June’s life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Berry Barn, located at 830 Valley Rd, Saskatoon, SK. The gathering will take place in the “Berry Patch,” an outdoor tented space next to the river. Light refreshments will be served, as we share cherished memories and stories of June’s life. Please reach out to heathervharder@gmail.com to RSVP or if you have any questions regarding the service.

In honor of June’s memory and her connection to Sherbrooke Community Centre, the family suggests that donations be made to the Sherbrooke Community Foundation. These contributions will aid in supporting the center’s ongoing work in Saskatoon, ensuring that others can benefit from the care and compassion that meant so much to June.

June Marylynn (Gemmell) Harder touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing her.

“As long as we live, they too will live, for they are now a part of us as we remember them.”
