June Elizabeth Lamers

June 12, 1940 — September 8, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of June Lamers on September 8, 2025, at the age of 85. June was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Her kindness, compassion, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

June lived a life filled with laughter, love, and strength. Her last year was a tough one medically and her courage to get through each day was a lesson that we will remember for the rest of our lives.

In her younger days June was a stay-at-home mom during the day and a post office administrator in the evening. For 39 years she worked in various post offices including Brunskill Pharmacy, Westmount Drugs, Mayfair Drugs and Rexall. When Canada Post introduced computers, she decided it was the perfect time to retire, opening up more time for family, friends, and the adventures she enjoyed so much.

June had a big heart that drew people to her, and because of it she made many lasting friendships, all of which she treasured. Many of these friendships, formed through her years of bowling, curling, and being involved in other social activities, lasted a lifetime. In her final days, she was grateful to be visited by so many dear friends and was thankful for the chance to share good-byes.

June loved to travel, whether by cruise ship, plane, bus or car. Together with her late husband Lloyd, as well as with friends and family, she shared many adventures, exploring countless places and cherishing the memories made along the way. In later years, June organized numerous bus trips and never wanting to leave anyone behind, she would always say, 'There’s one seat left just for you.’

June had a real passion for curling, and Brad Gushue was her absolute favourite. She never missed a game he played—whether it meant getting up in the middle of the night to watch a game overseas or cheering him on closer to home - if he was playing, she was watching. We all knew that when curling was on, you could forget about calling her; she wasn’t answering until the last rock was thrown.

Mom loved her family and they were her greatest joy. She leaves behind her sons Gord (Bob) and David, her daughters Linda (Rodney) and Karen (Glenn), stepchildren Alan (Ita), and Maureen (Cheryl), 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, and many extended relatives. Her passing has left a profound sadness in our hearts, but the love and memories she gave us will live on in us forever.

A private graveside service will be held. Friends are welcome to join her family to celebrate her life on September 18, 2025 at the Army & Navy Club (359 – 1st Avenue N) from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for June Lamers.
