It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joshua Evan Osicki at age 39. Josh was born on Easter Sunday, March 30, 1986, to Sylvester and Bonnie Osicki of Warman, Saskatchewan. He passed away peacefully in hospital on November 8, 2025, surrounded by family and friends.
Josh lived a vibrant life despite his many health challenges. Something about Josh was just special. Though dependent on many to meet his daily needs, he didn’t complain and he smiled through discomfort. His spirit shone so bright without him having to utter a single word. His radiant smile could light up a room.
We learned a lot from Josh. Josh’s time with us is a testament to the value of life, regardless of hardships, inconvenience or differing abilities. Countless people have shared how deeply he blessed their lives and left a lasting impact on their hearts.
Josh grew up in Warman with his family and attended Venture Heights Elementary School. Early on, the community rallied around him, with many volunteering to help with his intensive therapy program to train and strengthen his muscles.
Josh enjoyed music, Bible time, stories and spending time outdoors, including annual trips to Waskesiu. Josh was pleased to receive a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation and attended Camp Easter Seal. He benefited from funds raised by Telemiracle and paid it forward by raising money through annual cake auctions. He was so happy to roll across the stage to help present his contributions.
In preparing for Josh’s future as an adult, his parents partnered with Sunshine Housing to lobby the government for a home-based setting that could provide for Josh’s needs. At age 20, Josh moved into a high medical-needs group home that provided the specialized care that he and other local young adults required.
Josh and his family were blessed to meet the best of people along the way. Thank you to all who cared for Josh in such a kind and loving way.
Joshua is survived by his parents, his brother Jody, sister Raegan, sister-in-law Mary, brother-in-law Scott and his nieces. Josh rests well now in the arms of Jesus. “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” (Revelation 21:4)
A Celebration of Josh’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 14, in the Osler Community Church, 625 3rd Street, Osler, SK. Family and friends are invited to a viewing at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.
