Kuka, Johanna (Jean/Jennie)
September 2, 1931 – June 21, 2025
Our dear mom is at peace and is now reunited with our dad and our brother. Mom’s earthly journey ended on June 21, 2025, at the age of 93 at St. Ann’s Care Home in Saskatoon, SK.
She was born on September 2, 1931, and raised on a farm in the Bruno District, one of 11 children, to John and Lena (Luchak) Borisko. Mom experienced a Canadian prairie childhood, walking miles to school, milking cows, doing chores and helping care for her siblings. Mom left home in her late teens to work in Edmonton where she met Dad. They married on November 26, 1955, and later moved back to farm in Saskatchewan in the Dana area. Mom was a hard worker, helping Dad on the farm as well as cooking, cleaning and planting a big garden so there were vegetables for the winter.
They were blessed with 3 children, Sharon Desrosiers (Rick) and her son Curtis, Sandra Buck, her sons, Dalys Buck and his children, Carsyn, Noah, Aidan and Jayda and their mother Sarah, Riley Buck (Breannon). She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Wendy Kuka (Dave) and her children, Kirstin Kuka (Richard), Kelsey Kuka and Jayden Kuka. Also, left to cherish her memory, her brothers, Carl Borisko, Terrie Borisko (Jo-Anne), her sisters, Anne Wiun, Olga White and Rose Ewanishen, her sister-in-law, Shirley Borisko, brother-in-law, Al Stanley and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents, John and Lena Borisko, her husband, John Kuka, her son, Dennis Kuka, her son-in-laws, Robert Desrosiers and Todd Preymack, her brothers, Steve Borisko, Mike Borisko, Nick Borisko, John Borisko (infant), her sister Beatrice Stanley, brother-in-laws, John Wiun, Wayne White and Mike Ewanishen, Tony Bunko, her sister-in-laws, Doreen Borisko, Mayme Borisko, Wilma Borisko and Mackie Bunko.
Our family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all the staff at St. Ann’s Care Home for their loving care of Mom after her stroke in March 2024. We truly appreciate all that you have done.
A private family celebration of life will be held in Bruno at a later date.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Johanna Kuka.
