Jody Lynne
Cameron
September 26, 1964 – May 12, 2026
It is with profound sadness we share the passing of Jody Lynne Cameron (61) of Saskatoon. She passed away at RUH on May 12 after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm. Predeceased by her father Jack in 2020 Jody will be lovingly remembered by her son Jack, her mother Phyl, brother Scott (Nadine), sister Tracy and her son Merlin, niece Tannielle (David) grand nephews Dominic and Cameron, nephew Colin (Brittany) and many cousins. And her cat, Bella.
Jody was born Sept. 26, 1964 in Regina Sask. She began elementary school in Regina. The family moved to Nipawin in 1977 and Jody soon became involved in music lessons, swimming, choirs and United Church activities. She participated in the Youth Parliament and attended the General Council of the United Church as a youth delegate. Theses activities deeply affected her strong sense of justice and her desire to always care for the environment.
After graduation from Grade 12 in Nipawin, Jody completed an Advanced degree in English from the U of S, and explored Canada with a continuing education in french immersion and a career in Alberta film and television, working behind the scenes on shows such as North of 60. She returned to Saskatoon to complete a Bachelor of Science, and after a short time nursing Jody returned also to her love of literature and began working for the Saskatoon Public Library, where she found great meaning serving and supporting her community until her passing.
A joy to her family, Jody served as a role model, inspiring others with her tenacity. Singing in the Joy of Vox choir was one of her life's great pleasures.
A lover and protector of wisdom, Jody sought to embody it; she loved reading and books, and plants and their capacity for healing. Known to many as "The Queen of Garlic" Jody dedicated much of her life and artistic talents tending to her garden, and through her love and care for the natural world she created a lush ecosystem; a polinator sanctuary full of native plants described lovingly in her own words as "controlled chaos". Jody found a lot of meaning in life through her relationship with her son, Jack, through whom so much of Jody's beauty will live on, notably her compassion, kindness, a strong sense of justice, and a love for music, words, and cats. Jody enjoyed knitting and crochet, and beginning new projects only days after Christmas in order to be ready for the next holiday season. The sound of her piano, her sharp wit, her accumulated wisdom, and her vibrant red "Cinnamon and sugar" hair, will be dearly missed.
As per her request, no formal service will be held at this time. Her wish was to have a gathering with music and stories in celebration of her life at a later date.
We invite you to please share below your thoughts or memories; be assured that your stories of our beloved Jody will bring us comfort in the years to come.
