Jacob (Jake) Derksen was born November 16, 1931 in Hague Saskatchewan, to Jacob and Elizabeth (Goerzen) Derksen. Jake received his education, grades 1-10, at Heidelberg School. Jake worked on the family farm and on threshing crews, and worked for a local farmer. Jake was baptized on June 2nd, 1952 by Bishop John G. Rempel. Jake met Betty Hildebrand in 1958. They began dating and were married on April 28th, 1961. To this union, 5 children were born – Laverne, Verna, Dwayne, Sheldon, and Jennifer; also 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Jake is survived by his family, Laverne and Kathie Derksen (Dylan and Emma) (Tyler), Verna and Paul Brandt (Natasha and Leland, Emily, Charlie, Riley, Kimberly) (Michelle and Tyler, Lincoln, Rosalie) (Jessica and Quinn), Dwayne Derksen (Stephan and Jeanette, Elizabeth, Victoria, Juliette) (Shaun and Gen) (Shantel and Tim), Sheldon and Sherry Derksen, Jennifer and Cory Wiebe (Ashley) (Justin) (Jordon and Mikayla). Jake is also survived by 3 sisters Anna Klassen, Elizabeth Guenter, Helen Peters, and Betty’s sister Mary Letkeman, and numerous nieces and nephews. Jake is predeceased by his parents, 4 brother-in-laws, and Betty’s 8 siblings and their spouses.
As a family, we would like to thank the Diamond House for the exceptional care and love they gave Dad over the past 3 years.
A Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 10:00am at the Hague Community Church, 203 3rd Street in Hague, SK.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at 11:00am at the Hague Community Church, 203 3rd Street in Hague, SK. Interment at Warman Memorial Gardens will be held in the afternoon following the service.
