Irene Anna Mabel Clarke

Irene Anna Mabel Clarke (nee Archer) died in her home in Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan on May 6, 2025, at the age of 85.

Irene was born April 6, 1940, to Charles and Mabel Archer in Caledon, County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. She grew up in a Christian home along with 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Each Sunday she attended church and Sunday School and learned at a very young age that Jesus died for her at Calvary and shed His blood to wash away her sins. She gave her life to Jesus as Saviour and Lord at a young age. She loved early family life on the farm, developing a strong work ethic and a love for nature and music.

Irene’s life was marked by service to others. After her formal education was complete, she worked for many years at a school for Blind and Deaf children, even learning to read and write Braille while there. She was involved in Girl Guides, Brownies, teaching Sunday School, and singing. After she married the love of her life, Henry Clarke in 1968, two boys, Gerald and Donald, were born into their family. She opened her heart to another son, Rob, whom they adopted later, in Canada.

Those who knew Irene will remember her for her unwavering faith in God, her positive attitude, generosity, hospitality, her loyal and loving support of her husband and children, and her determination to “pray about everything and anything”. She faced more than a few challenges in her life, including a move from her homeland to Canada, major surgery for cancer for herself and later also for her husband, but she always maintained that it was “in the Lord’s hands”.

Irene is survived by her husband Henry, her sons Gerald, Donald (Jane) and Rob (Tracie) and their four children. She is also survived by her siblings in Northern Ireland: brothers Donald, Fredrick and sisters Florence, Hetta, Honor, Avril, Christine and their spouses. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Mabel Archer and her sister Dorothy.

Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at 1:00 p.m., in Northwest Community Church, Meadow Lake, SK.
