Obituary

Helen Harder passed away peacefully on January 22, 2026. She was born on November 4, 1936 in Hague, Saskatchewan to Cornelius and Agatha Harder.

Helen attended school at Venice School in the village of Blumenthal and as an adult worked diligently to achieve her grade 12 diploma. She went on to attend Prairie Bible College and later completed training as a dental assistant. Helen’s education went far beyond the formal. If you sat and talked with her, you quickly discovered she was a wealth of information on a wide range of subjects.

Helen spent her entire adult life in Saskatoon where she worked in a variety of settings including the School Dental Plan, the Royal University Hospital, and Canadian Tire. She was known for her strong work ethic and independence.

Helen was predeceased by her parents and several brothers and sisters. She is lovingly remembered by her siblings Agatha (Peter), Martin (Susan), Dave (Eva), Susan, Maria, Marvin (Mary), Marti (Bob), numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She also leaves behind many friends and her honorary grandchildren Alex and Gabby.

Helen will be remembered for her love of laughter and her blunt, quick-witted sense of humor. She had a deep appreciation for plants and flowers and was always delighted to receive a bouquet. She kept apprised what happening in the world and even to her last days enjoyed a spirited and thoughtful debate about politics.

The family invites you to join them in celebrating Helen’s life at Hague Gospel Church, 324 Service Road, Hague, Saskatchewan on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. Viewing will take place at 10:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. A brief graveside service will follow with a light lunch afterwards.
