Obituary

Gina Marie White nee Faust was born on July 5th, 1964. She was the eldest daughter of Myrna Faust and sister to Cindy Faust of Saskatoon.

Gina was a typical oldest child, responsible and capable. Myrna taught her many life skills and Gina was an excellent student. She grew up learning how to work hard, cook, make do, be thrifty, and crafty too.

By the time she went out to work she knew how to be a valuable employee. Gina had several waitressing jobs and she was a skilled bartender as well. It’s hard work especially in heels and Gina was well liked by her loyal customers.

By her early 20’s Gina had two daughters of her own. Jennifer, born in 1982 and Jessica in 1987. Being a single Mom was never easy but a determined Gina with some help from her Mom was up for the challenge. She wanted to do her best for her family and she wanted her girls to enjoy activities that she didn’t get to experience, so she furthered her education in the areas of business and bookkeeping to have better hours and more earning capacity. In the end Gina was thrilled to be able to enrol the girls in dance lessons. Gina and Myrna spent many hours sewing costumes and driving to dance competitions.

In 1993 she married Malcolm White of Saskatoon. In doing so she acquired two stepchildren, Jeremy and Tara White. A blended family can be a difficult undertaking but together Gina and Malcolm built a life and raised four fine adults. They enjoyed camping and built a cottage at Sturgeon Lake to spend quality time with their family.

Between work and family somehow Gina always found time for hobbies, whether it was gardening, decorating, crocheting or cross stitch, she always had something on the go. She loved family gatherings and holidays which were often spent at her house with more than twenty around the table.

Gina had a wide circle of friends and anyone that knew her enjoyed her sense of humour. That girl loved to laugh and have a good time. She also had an extremely quick wit, which sometimes got her in trouble. There was the odd occasion she may have put her foot in her mouth too. It was something we all loved about her and provided those who knew her with years of entertainment. She was also a person who really knew how to help out. Gina could be counted on, and she knew the value of an extra pair of hands and an ear to listen and lend support.

Gina was absolutely thrilled to have grandchildren. In her 50’s she decided to go to the gym. She wanted to be the kind of Gramma who could “do things” with her grandkids. It became part of her routine and she enjoyed the many benefits of being physically fit.

Quilting was an almost obsessive hobby of Ginas’. Quilting retreats, techniques, patterns, and of course a semi load of fabric. She did beautiful work and many family members enjoy the fruits of her labours. Let’s also not forget that she had her black belt in shopping, and her shoe collection could rival Imelda Marcos.

There was so much more that Gina wanted to do. She spent her last year enjoying what she could and spending time with the people she loved.

She is mourned by her devoted husband Malcolm, her sister Cindy Faust, her daughter Jennifer Faust (children Dexter and Blake) daughter Jessica (Chris) Petit, (children Ethen and Lucas.) Jeremy’s oldest son Jaden. Stepdaughter in law Grey, (children Lucian and Jorel.) Tara Klassen (Jamey) (children Paige and Taylor. ) She was predeceased by her loving mother Myrna Faust, and her stepson Jeremy White who sadly just recently passed away.

Gina will be dearly missed by many family members and friends. Her brothers and sisters in laws. Her Uncles, her nephews and nieces, her cousins and by all those who were lucky enough to be in her company. When she said “we’re family”, she meant it. If she said “she’d be there”, she meant it. She was loyal and a force to be reckoned with, she was soft and loving too. Traits not easily won or easily forgotten. We will remember her as a person profoundly unique, deeply loved, and who will be tremendously missed.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mrs. White's care and arrangements.
