Frances Louise Gasmo

January 23, 1940 — September 18, 2023

Frances Louise Gasmo, 83, of Saskatoon, and formerly of Prince Albert, SK, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on September 18th, 2023. She was born to parents Ralph and Matilda Weisgerber, on 23 January 1940 in Leroy, Saskatchewan.

Frances married Ernie on September 5th, 1964, in Humboldt Saskatchewan. Together they raised four children:  Terry, Tracey, Derek and Rodney. The family moved from Humboldt to Prince Albert, and it was there that they spent many years raising their family. Many get togethers were hosted with the extended family, as that was the centre of Fran’s life. Memories were made hosting card games, going on camping trips and family adventures. Laughter was always present at the Gasmo home, and all were welcomed in without hesitation.

After Ernie suffered a stroke in 2001, they moved to Saskatoon, and Fran remained in her home until the time of her passing. Fran loved to talk sports with her family, but especially loved watching curling. She also loved her gospel time and spent many hours reading her bible and watching sermons on TV. Fran didn’t like to travel but would pack an overnight bag to stay with Derek and Brenda in PA, or visit with her sisters and brothers. She enjoyed her breakfasts out at the Coachman, or being able to have dinners with the family, listening to the conversations, laughing, and being able to go for a puff on the deck. Fran would make her daily calls out to family and had a regular routine to call everyone. She would always ask if the grandchildren were OK and end the call with “so that’s the scoop”. We will all miss those calls. Fran was fiercely independent, and died the same way she lived; on her own terms. She was one tough lady with a heart of gold.

Fran is survived by: Terry (Meridee) Grandchildren Brennan (Josanne), great granddaughter Nova; Dustin (Kaylee); Tracey (Phil)Rochon, Granddaughter Gina (Will); Derek (Brenda) grandchildren Jessie (Blair) great granddaughter Kinsley; Lee (Brittany) great grandkids Felix, William, and Jordyn; Rod (Bonnie-Ann) grandchildren Colton (Natalie), Riley and Larissa as well as her sisters Rene, Shirley (Lyle) and Brother Raymond (Charlene)Her sisters in law Thelma Gasmo, Linda Pray, Fran Bremner, and Arlene Weisgerber, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband Ernie, her grandson Brady, her great grandson Bobby and her siblings Bertie, Margaret, Roger, Honey, and Diane, brothers in law Kenny, Mervin and Lorne Gasmo, Wayne Lloyd, Jack Cash, Jack Kunkel, Jack Blachford, Orville Slade, niece Shannon Gasmo, and nephews Kenny Weisgerber and Duane lg.
