It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Friesen, who went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour on Friday, April 3, 2026, at the age of 80.
Betty was born on March 29, 1946, in Laird, Saskatchewan. She lived a life rooted in faith, love, and service to others, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Andrew (Frieda), Shauna (Dean), Jody (Jasmine), Cheyanne (Kyle), Cyndi (Jon), and Sky-Lynn. She is also survived by her siblings Marianne (Abe) Hamm, Abe (Bonnie), Ben (Lucille), Stella and Ed (Marcy); her sisters-in-law Anne (Jake), Ann (Ed), Ann (Mike), Tina (Aaron), and Linda Ginther; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Betty was predeceased by her beloved husband, Ed, and her brother, Bill Ginther.
Betty found joy in life’s simple pleasures. She loved reading and journaling, enjoyed many evenings at bingo, and was always ready for a good thrifting adventure. She cherished visiting with family, friends, and neighbors, and had a special place in her heart for her little blue budgie, Peter.
One of Betty’s greatest legacies was her dedication to fostering children. Over 36 years, she opened her home and heart to more than 50 children, providing love, stability, and care. She also took pride in her small librarian role in her building, where she connected with others and served her community in her own quiet way.
A come and go viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at Cherished Memories Funeral Home, 591 Centennial Drive North, Martensville, Saskatchewan. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Warman Bergthaler Mennonite Church, 206 Second Street, Warman, Saskatchewan.
Betty’s life was a testament to faith, compassion, and unconditional love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care of Mrs. Betty Friesen.
