It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Anne Thorpe of Candle Lake, SK. Elizabeth left this world on April 30, 2023.
Liz was born Elizabeth Anne Rospad to Helen and Alexander Rospad on October 26, 1953 in Tisdale, SK. She spent her first years in the tiny hamlet of Armley, SK. In 1966 Liz, her mother and siblings moved to Nipawin, SK where they resided for many years. Liz continued her education and graduated in 1971 from LP Miller Comprehensive High School in Nipawin.
After graduation Liz entered the work force and began a family raising three beautiful daughters. The family lived in White Fox, SK until 1986. At that time Liz went back to school to pursue a lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. She successfully completed the RN course and graduated in 1988. In 1989 Liz met the love of her life Danny Thorpe and they were married on October 5, 1991. Danny welcomed the family life with Liz and her daughters with open arms. Over the years of her nursing career she continued to further her education and went on to become a nurse practitioner. Something that she was very proud of. Liz had a varied and rewarding career and worked in many locations throughout northern Saskatchewan. Liz was responsible for constructing and running the Candle Lake Health Clinic in the summer months for many years and it is still open to this day. Her “wall of hooks” was her trophy wall and every one had a story to tell. Prior to Liz’s retirement she was mentored by a very good friend and colleague Doctor Jan Moe to take over and run the Kinistino Health Clinic. Liz was solely responsible for being in charge of the clinic and she loved it.
In 2012 Liz took an early retirement and was able to spend more time at her home at Candle Lake and with her family. Family was most important to Liz, especially when the grandchildren came along. Liz and Danny spend countless hours and put on many miles to go anywhere they could to watch their grandchildren play their sports or activities. Gma and Gpa always made sure to make so many good memories.
Liz left a very lasting professional and profound impression on so many people throughout her life and career. For those who knew Liz she was a straight forward, feisty and a straight shooter. Liz was so caring, compassionate, empathetic, genuine and sincere. She loved her family and she loved her career. She will be forever loved and missed by so many.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents Helen and Alexander Rospad, her step father Art Stubbs and her brother Paul.
Elizabeth is lovingly remembered and survived by her husband Danny of 33 years; her daughters Brandy (Robin) and Jolene (Sean); her grandchildren Braden, Shanna, Rylee, Zakary, Anthony, Adeline, Emily and Davina ; her brother Lawrence Rospad
She will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
