With broken hearts and everlasting love, we announce the passing of our beloved Elijah Rene Edward Derocher, affectionately known by so many as "Handsome Boy." Elijah passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 23, leaving behind a family and community who will forever cherish the love, laughter, and light he brought into their lives.

Elijah's smile had a way of brightening every room, and his gentle spirit touched the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be remembered for the joy he shared, the love he gave so freely, and the special place he holds in the hearts of his family and friends. Though his time with us was far too short, the memories he created will be treasured forever.

Elijah is lovingly survived by his parents, Stephanie (Darryl) Derocher and Douglas (Alex) Desjarlais; his grandparents, Marie Desjarlais and Wanda & Wes Derocher; and his siblings, Kayden, Abry, Waverley, Haisley, and Kacie. He also leaves behind numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his grandfather, Rene Desjarlais; his uncle, Edward Desjarlais; and his aunts, Eleonore Desjarlais and Dana Derocher, who now welcome him with open arms.

A Wake will be held from Tuesday, July 21 through Thursday, July 23, 2026, at the Canoe Lake Band Hall.

Layled Services will take place on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Canoe Lake Church in Canoe Lake, Saskatchewan. Elijah will then be laid to rest at Canoe Lake Cemetery.

Honouring Elijah as pallbearers are Leon Desjarlais, Carson Gardiner, Phil Iron, Soloman Iron, Terry Ann Kennedy, and members of the Derocher Family.

Honorary Pallbearers are The Parkridge Centre Family, Royal University Hospital, and all who knew and loved Elijah.

Although our Handsome Boy has left this earthly life, his love, his spirit, and the precious memories he gifted to those around him will remain in our hearts forever. He will be deeply loved, profoundly missed, and never forgotten.
