The death of Mrs. Doreen Mary Karmark (nee Watt) of Saskatoon, SK, and formerly of Dundurn, Lorlie, Saskatoon, Simpson, Delisle, Asquith, Humboldt, and Watson, SK, occurred Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the Oliver Lodge, Saskatoon, SK. She was 91 years of age.
Doreen was born in North Star, Alberta, to Doris Lily Thorns (nee Downey) and William Robert Watt on December 16, 1934. She grew up in Alberta (Huxley and Sylvan Lake). Doreen was set up on a date with John on New Year's Eve in 1960, and was engaged after spending five days together, and married on June 24, 1961. They lived in Saskatchewan on numerous farms, raising their six children. Doreen was a true farm wife, raising children, growing gardens of vegetables to last for the year, canning beets, driving the tractor, combine, grain truck, and gathering horses or cows that would bust out of their pens, then would lead the local junior choir (half of which were her own children). When she wasn't busy raising kids on the farm, she enjoyed reading, singing, sewing, crafts, and sharing recipes. Through the years, depending on where she lived, she also served on the Church Board or the Music Festival Committee. In later years, she kept busy with knitting, crocheting, solving puzzles in the Star Phoenix, playing Solitaire on her laptop, sharing recipes, watching cooking shows, and playing card games with family. She left our family with the wonderful legacy of love and music.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents, William & Doris, her parents-in-law, Laurits & Petra (nee Nielson) Karmark, her loving husband of 48 years, Johannes Kristian (John) Karmark, and two brothers, Ronnie and Bobbie.
Doreen will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family: six children (her PHD ~ Perfect Half Dozen), sixteen grandchildren, and nine greatgrandchildren, plus one on the way!!
