Doreen passed away on September 12, 2026, in Rosthern, with her family by her side. Though dementia marked her final years, she was surrounded by the unwavering love of her family, who returned the care, kindness, and devotion she had so generously given them throughout her life.

Doreen was born on November 14, 1948 in Spiritwood, Saskatchewan to Jacob and Anne Letkeman. She was the third child of 5. Her early years were spent on a farm near Great Deer, close to Mayfair, Saskatchewan. When she was 10, the family moved a few miles north of Martensville and she attended Rose Leaf School. They then bought a parcel in town, and her dad built a house.

When she was 14, the family moved to Coronach which was one of the happiest school years of her life, as she made lifelong friends. After a year in Coronach, they moved back to Martensville and she graduated from high school in Osler at RJ Davidson School. Following this, she did one year of Bible School at Bethany Bible Institute in 1969.

In her early twenties, Doreen attended SIAST Kelsey Campus, earning her Nursing Assistant Certificate and receiving the Bedside Manner Award. After graduating, she worked at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on the Rehabilitation Unit. When the unit was moved to Saskatoon City Hospital, she moved with it and spent the majority of her career there. She truly loved nursing and was known for her compassion and caring nature.

Doreen met Alex Bonderoff (of Langham, Saskatchewan) in 1973. They married in 1975 and bought a house in Saskatoon. In 1977, Doreen and Al had a daughter Kristin who unfortunately passed away in 1979. Shortly after this, they moved to Martensville and in 1982, they adopted a baby girl, Mindy.

After adopting Mindy, Doreen decided to shift to working casually at the hospital. After her nursing career at City Hospital, she worked for Bayshore Health doing homecare in the Martensville and surrounding areas.

When Doreen's husband Al got sick, she stopped working and became his caregiver. After Al passed away in 2006, she sold her home in Martensville and moved to Saskatoon to be closer to Mindy and her grandchildren.

Doreen enjoyed travelling. She went on many trips including Hawaii with her cousin Gladys, bus tours to the Maritimes and also to the states to visit Graceland, the Amish community, and Branson with her sister Audrey and husband Alvin. Her favourite trip was to Israel with a group of ladies, where she walked where Jesus walked, visited His tomb, and was baptized again in the Sea of Galilee.

After selling her condo, Doreen was excited to move to Bethany Manor in Saskatoon, where she enjoyed several happy years. Following her diagnosis of dementia in 2020, and as her care needs increased, she moved to Sunrise Place in Rosthern in 2022. Two years later, she transitioned to the long-term care unit at Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home, where she remained until her passing.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Mindy (Darren), granddaughters Rhiannon and Haedyn, great grandson Hudson, her sister Audrey (Alvin), nieces Rochelle and Raquel and nephew Chad (and their families), and many other family members and friends. Welcoming Doreen into heaven are her parents Jacob and Ann, her three brothers Edwin, Gordon, and Elmer, her husband Alex, her daughter Kristin, and many cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends.

The family is deeply grateful to Dr. Little and the nurses and care aides at the Rosthern Mennonite Nursing Home for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Doreen.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan. Dementia may have stolen the memories she cherished, but it never diminished the remarkable woman she was.
