Donald Heppner

June 27, 1946 — July 18, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Don Heppner on July 18, 2025, at the age of 79.

Born in Saskatoon on June 27, 1946, Don grew up in the Neuhorst area and later settled in Osler, where he and his wife Nettie built a life rooted in faith, love, and hard work. They met in church in 1965 and were married a year later—Don knew from the start that she was the one he wanted by his side for the rest of his life.

Don's career began at Royal University Hospital, where he worked for 12 years, followed by 18 years at Mount Royal Collegiate. For over 35 years, Don and Nettie faithfully cared for the Prairie Spirit School Division office, building strong relationships and quietly serving their community behind the scenes. Alongside that, they were also professional painters, leaving their artistic mark on homes and buildings across Saskatchewan.

Creativity flowed through every part of Don’s life. Whether it was painting, scroll saw work, or building a miniature western town in his backyard in memory of his late son Dale, Don found ways to express both his artistry and his heart. Many who knew him have been touched by the handmade wooden pieces he generously gave as gifts.

Don is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nettie; son Kevin; daughter Kristin; daughter-in-law Melanie; and grandchildren Austin, Andrew, Isabella, and Dylan. He is also survived by his siblings Ron (Shirley), Dave (Heather), Josie (Tim), and Jayne (Wally). He was predeceased by his parents, Anton and Tena, and his beloved son Dale.

Don's Viewing will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 24, 2025, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church, 107 McWillie Ave, Saskatoon, SK. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025, in the Ebenezer Baptist Church. All who knew and loved Don are welcome to attend.

Don was a humble man who loved the Lord and lived his life in quiet devotion, always working hard to honor God in everything he did. His legacy of faith, creativity, and kindness will live on in all who knew him.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with Mr. Donald Heppner's care and arrangements.
