Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Debra Gail Schell announces her passing on April 4, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on August 3, 1954, in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. She was the wife of the late Dale Schell, her partner and best friend for 51 wonderful years until his passing in 2025. Together, they built a family grounded in kindness and laughter.

Debra will be deeply missed by her three children and by her six beloved grandchildren, who provided her greatest joy in her later years.

Debra was survived by her son Jason (Jena), grandchild Tibby; son Jesse, grandsons Mason and Ace and granddaughter Anna; daughter Jacqueline (Skeeter), granddaughter Aidyn, grandson Ash; sister and closest friend Fern Assinewe (Bryan), and brothers Del Deguire (Lynn) and Dale Deguire (Lois). She was predeceased by her parents, George and Florence Deguire, siblings Valerie Deguire, Darwin Deguire (Phyllis), Madge Anderson (Gordon) and Lucille Parenteau (Joe), Garry Deguire and many aunts and uncles.

Her warmth, generosity, and quiet strength touched all who knew her. She had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen and cared for, whether through a home-cooked meal, a heartfelt conversation, or her ever-present smile.

Debra’s memory will be cherished not only by her family but also by her many friends and community members who were fortunate to share in her life.

A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Hospice at Glengarda through the St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.

Her family takes comfort knowing she is reunited with Dale and that her love continues to guide them every day.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Mrs. Schell's care and arrangements.
