Deb passed away on September 26, 2026, after a brave fight with cancer. Deb is survived by her husband, Ted Hamre; daughters, Tanya (Jimmy) Laframboise and Jaimie Ross. Grandchildren Emily Hamre-Milller (Dom Bellamy), Beau Ross, Steele Ross and Simone Ross and her great-granddaughter, Natalie Bellamy. Brothers Rob (Michelle), Dwayne (Pam) and her sister Jackie (Jason) Doidge, as well as four nephews and their families and one niece. 

Deb was predeceased by her parents, Jake and Grace Waldner; in-laws Oswald and Verletta Hemre; and brother-in-law Doug Hamre. 

Deb had a very happy childhood, growing up in an era when you were out with your friends until the 9:00 pm curfew bell would ring and then push it a bit further. She could run to the elevator to see her dad and get 10 cents so she could go to the cafe for a drink. 

In 1973, she married Ted Hamre and had two daughters. She was happy to be a stay-at-home mom for many years. In 1987, the family moved to Saskatoon. Deb worked at Zellers for several years. It wasn't very long ago that a lady approached her and asked her if she had worked at Zellers at one time. Deb had a personality that made her memorable to everyone. She was at the top of her game when she was teasing young grandchildren or her great-grandchildren. 

Deb and Ted had many great vacations together in Hawaii and many extended vacations in California. They were able to take their bucket-list motorhome trip to explore Canada's East Coast. 

In 2025, Deb was diagnosed with incurable cancer. She put up a brave fight, but in the end the cancer won. Deb maintained her sense of humour throughout her illness. Her family was able to spend a lot of time with her in her final days in palliative care, telling and retelling old stories in the hope that Deb could hear them. 

The Family would like to thank all of the home care nurses, palliative care nurses and doctors for their exceptional care of Deb that allowed her to stay at home longer and have comfort in the palliative care unit in St. Paul's Hospital. 

We were also fortunate to connect with Pastor Bruce Ehlert. His visits over the past few months helped give Deb the strength to pass away in peace.

A celebration of Deb's life will be held in the Langham Community Hall on October 10, 2026 at 2:00 pm. Deb requested that everyone attending dress casually. 

Memorial donations can be made to the First Sask Lutheran Church at Langham.
