Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of David Wolf announces his passing from this life to the next on April 30, 2026, just days before his 95th birthday.

Born in Rheinland, Saskatchewan on May 3, 1931 to Henry and Maria Wolf, David grew up in the Osler area. He excelled in school, but left early to go to work to help out his parents. He later regretted not going back and finishing his education: many times he told his daughter he would have liked to be a veterinarian. He especially liked horses. After his move to Saskatoon, he met the love of his life, Gladys Wilson, with whom he recently marked their 72nd anniversary. Here they raised three children: Shelly, Harvey and Theo.

Dave worked many years at Scott National, then moved on to Old Dutch Foods until his early retirement. He was a very talented, artistic, and skilled individual. Those close to him have his paintings, woodwork, and carvings to cherish. He liked puttering in the yard or his shop, but never one to tell you what he was working on until it was done. He also built many perches, walkways and outdoor enclosures for their cat Sophie, who was a source of amusement and kept him on his toes in later years: in Sophie, he’d met his match!

Faith and church were an important part of David’s life. He served many years as Sunday School teacher, deacon, usher and all-around handyman in his church. Always one to show an interest in children, he not only spent time with his own, but was also a hit with the neighbourhood kids. He especially enjoyed working on projects for his grandchildren.

David is survived by his wife Gladys, daughter Shelly Wolf-Lake, son Harvey, grandchildren Candace, Kyle, Christopher, Rylie, McKayla, Tyron and Jonas, and great-grandson Morgan; also sisters Anne, Helen, Nettie, Margaret, brothers Jake and John, and several brothers-and sisters-in-law, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sons Perry and Theodore, and son-in-law Jim Lake. Also predeceased by older brothers Peter (in Mexico), and Henry, younger brothers Peter, Abe, and Willie/Bill, sisters Mary and Tina.

The family would like to thank the staff at Circle Drive Special Care Home for their excellent care of David in the few months he was there. To those that he formed close bonds with, we are especially grateful for the time you spent with him when family couldn’t be there. An Interment Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026 in Woodlawn Cemetery, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. We will meet at the front gates (33rd Street) at 12:45 p.m.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Wolf.
