Cornelius Abram Wiebe

May 30, 1934 — March 8, 2024

Cornie grew up on a farm about a mile outside of Rosthern. On the farm he learnt the value of hard work and developed the skill of being able to fix and repair most anything. He also acquired his love of the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

In 1956 he met Mary, the love of his life. After marrying, they settled in Saskatoon. There they started their family, with Jim, Diana, and Katherine. Grandchildren eventually came, Paul, Lindsay, Kimberly, Samantha, and Hayley. And more recently great grandchildren, Ruby, Finley, Willow, and James. Cornie loved being a grandfather and great-grandfather, teaching them important life skills.

Shortly after arriving in Saskatoon, he began work at Saskatoon Boilers, where he worked for 38 years.

Cornie and Mary travelled extensively, often to warmer climates, like, Thailand, Dominican Republic, Cuba, and Mexico. They also followed the nomadic Jim and Michelle to Iqaluit, Whitehorse, and to Australia.

At the time of Cornie and Mary’s retirement, they and their daughter, Katherine, purchased a cabin at Candle Lake. This became their second home, spending much of the summer months there. Their cabin became the center of many cherished family celebrations.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Cornerstone Church, 315 Lenore Drive, Saskatoon, SK., on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 2:00 PM.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements for Cornelius Wiebe.
