Chad was born in Saskatoon, SK on September 25, 1993, spending all of his life in the city he was born.
How do you sum up a life as complicated as this? For so long, the person we know isn’t always the person we want to remember, but the person we raised and loved is still in there. Deep in his heart and soul, he was still a giggly baby, still a little boy who loved race cars and dinosaurs, still a little kid running through Grandma Marian and Grandpa George’s farm yard alongside his sister and cousins, and still a teenager sitting with his mom trying to makes sense of this thing called life.
He was a father who wholeheartedly adored his little girl, Melita. With every ounce of his entire being, he was proud of his sweet girl. The beautiful pieces of him will always live on within her, and now we are able to watch him grow up all over again within her.
Although parts of his life were heavy, his love for his family never wavered, as he always carried with him photos of Melita and his family and Grandpa’s black cowboy hat.
We will continue to remember only the light parts of him; the parts that made us laugh, the parts that brought us joy, and the love within his daughter.
Chad leaves behind his daughter, Melita; his entire world. The world he was present in for many years, and the world he desperately tried to claw his way back to. Chad also leaves behind his family, who are rocked to their core and overcome with sadness.
Chad was fortunate enough to achieve and maintain sobriety for 6 years when Melita was born. He was an attentive, present, and fun-loving father. The memories made will never die.”
Opioid addiction is a beast. No amount of love nor money nor wishing can rescue someone from these depths of hell. Addicts are loved. They are someone’s world, someone’s center.
If only love were enough.
Death does not provide us an opportunity to erase the past; of what it really was, or of what it could have been. Chad's life was lived on his terms.
Death provides peace to his family, who loved him so hard and fought to bring him back from the brink.
Chad, you are at peace. Go, rest now.
