Caroline Katherine Holmes

October 2, 1952 — March 28, 2024

Mom’s life was a beautiful melody unto the Lord Jesus, and to anyone she encountered. Her countenance was all joy and she delighted in fellowship, especially with her children. Her smile absolutely lit the room; and when she would give you that warm smile, you could tell that she treasured you.

She was born, the second eldest, in a family of eight siblings, in Moose Jaw, SK. She and her family moved to Saskatoon shortly after. She developed a close relationship with Jesus at a young age. Her parents’ greatest legacy was to impart deep-rooted faith in their children and future generations.

Mom enjoyed reading the Bible, cooking, entertaining, playing games, and being creative. She loved to sing and play the piano, especially with her family. When she played, her passion could not be contained. She could make the piano tremble with amazing fervour from the depths of her soul. It was a sight to behold!

Mom ministered in music and taught piano over the years, and worked a variety of jobs, including becoming a minister’s wife later in life. In 2008, she planted a church in Saskatoon with her late husband, Rev. Dr. Norman Holmes. In her final years, she became ordained as a Pastor.

Her generous, genuine, passionate, and loving spirit impacted many lives and attracted all those around her. Her life was a testimony to the promises and faithfulness of God.

Around the age of 50, she was diagnosed with a rare terminal liver disease which the doctors told her would likely take her in several years. Mom trusted in the Lord always. He strengthened and sustained her miraculously through many such reports. Until finally, at the age of 71, God called her home to Glory into His perfect healing.

Caroline will be celebrated and remembered by her children: Kelly (Dora) Jones and Kari (Josiah) Bloomfield, her spiritual granddaughter: Monica Huckabay-Klassen, her seven siblings: Larry (Darla) Gerbrandt, Richard (Dorothy) Gerbrandt, Steven (Debbie) Gerbrandt, Phil (Susan) Gerbrandt, Sharon (Desmond) Brewer, Gail Carmack, and Wayne (Lisa) Gerbrandt; their families as well as her many relatives, and friends, including her best friend Joyce Roberts-McCrea.

She is reunited in Heaven with her late husband, Norman Holmes, and her parents, Henry and Katherina Gerbrandt.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday April 5, 2024, at 1:00 pm, at the Carpenter’s Church, 1339 Ave. D, North, Saskatoon. There will be a live stream available from the Carpenter’s Church Saskatoon website ccsaskatoon.com, or their Facebook page or YouTube page.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the care and arrangements of Caroline Holmes.
