Elizabeth (Betty) Caroline Yeaman

October 29, 1931 — November 11, 2023

It is with gratitude and deep affection that we share the news of the passing of our dear mother Betty Yeaman on Nov. 11, 2023. It is fitting that Mom chose to leave this world on a day set aside for the remembrance of those who lived their lives to make others’ lives better, as unselfish actions certainly describe Mom’s existence.

Mom lived her early life in Tway, Sask. It was there she began to take on some of the many roles that would shape her life: sibling, teacher, mentor. She married Albert Yeaman and for half a century the community of Weyburn benefited as she honed her other responsibilities of partner, mother, nurturer, culinary guru, community builder, Canadian, sports fan, Grandmother.  Evident through all these roles was her genuine interest in and respect for people coupled with a pinch of playfulness that characterized her life. Through her conversations, she made you feel special and important. Her list of life-long friends is a testament to that. She also loved her sports and had all kinds of advice for coaches of the Jays or the Raptors.

Mom was spiritual and took her responsibilities to look after others and to build strong community to heart being active in Grace United Church in Weyburn. Mom also had plenty of strong opinions and loved a good discussion. She was resilient and when thrown health issues, faced them with resolve and dignity.It was in her move to Saskatoon in 2012 that she took on the role of Great Grandma or GG. She lived her life, trying to do things in the best possible way with as much class and grace imaginable and the goal of kindness being utmost. Her children and their families know that to have Mom’s special attention was indeed a gift. We will miss her.

Left to cherish their many special moments are her children and their families: Cathy (Ron) Mills, Janice (Charles) Achampong, Taylor Mills (Jill Lovely), Lauren Mills; Lynn (Gerard) Onushko, Jared Onushko, Dane (Krista) Onushko, Kaleb (Jaclyn) Onushko, Bohdan Onushko (Charles Nielsen); Bill (Brenda) Yeaman, Ashley Yeaman, (Yaya Siggins), Sarah Yeaman (Vageli Dadiotis);

Jim Yeaman (Heather Haupstein); Carole (Bob) Morris, Will Morris, Chelsea Morris (Dallas Dee) Lindsay (Adam) Wilson, Owen Morris.  Great grandchildren Kasia, Ayana, Veronica, Asher, Taran, Orrie, Nikolaos, Samuel, Louisa, Sophie, Hayes, Javy, Vaughn; Sister Carole Thoms, Sisters in Law Eva Welch, Shirley Welch, numerous nieces and nephews and remaining friends.

Our family gives special thanks and recognition for the love and care shown especially to Mom but extended to all of us by the Diamond House Staff and Dr. Adamus at Warman.

A Celebration of Mom’s Life will take place at McClure United Church in Saskatoon, Sask. on Dec. 8, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. Private Interment August 2024.
