Audrey Lucille George

March 16, 1925 — October 12, 2023

It is with sadness we announce the passing of our Mother, Grandmother (Nana), Great-Grandmother and Friend – Audrey Lucille George. She passed away on Thursday October 12, 2023, at RUH Hospital, in Saskatoon Saskatchewan.

Audrey is survived by her children Sandra (Wayne) Frayling and Judy (Brian) Frayling, her grandchildren Candace (Dustin) Loverenow, Stacey (Jonathan) Mattos, Lyssa (Robert) Dixon and Shannon Frayling. Great grandchildren Caden and Kylar Mattos. Pre-deceased by her husband James George, siblings Stella Hagel, Dorothy Simmons and Blanche Galt.

Audrey was born March 16, 1925, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Pearl and William Roffe. She was the second eldest of four children. In her early adult years, she went to Marvel Beauty College studying Hair and Makeup and eventually went to work with her father William in his Barber Shop in Saskatoon. She continued cutting hair for her friends and family for several years. Later she also worked at the Cafeteria in The Hudson Bay Department Store for over 20 Years before retiring.

In June of 1948, Jim and Audrey were married in Saskatoon, as a young couple they decided to build a new home on Clarence Avenue (a home they stayed in for their entire life). In the early 50’s Audrey’s sister-in –law Phyllis began speaking to them about God’s Kingdom, those conversations turned into a study of the Bible, and they began to associate with the City Park Congregation.

They formed many close and special friendships with the brothers and sisters. June 19, 1952, before the birth of their first born daughter, Sandra, Audrey and Jim were baptized as Jehovah’s Witnesses. Later in April of 1958, they welcomed their second child, Judy to complete their family.

Audrey took great delight in her family, especially in her grandchildren, hosting many turkey suppers, anniversary parties, attending piano recitals and school plays. She loved her family. She also enjoyed making homemade Wine and Beer, Gardening and Crocheting. She was a devoted wife, who cared for her husband Jim right up until his passing in June 2015, they were married 67 years.

She served Jehovah faithfully as a member of the Arbor Creek Congregation, zealously continuing to share the truth with others until her own passing. She had a strong and unwavering belief in the resurrection hope, when she will be reunited with her family. She will be fondly missed by her family and friends.

Details of a memorial service will be shared at a later date.

Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with the care and arrangements of Audrey George.
