It is with profound sadness that the family of Astrid (Trudy) Erixon announces her peaceful passing at home in Saskatoon on September 17, 2025 at the age of 96.
Born on August 17, 1929, on the family farm near Allan, Saskatchewan, Trudy was the daughter of Andreas (Andrew) and Gladys (née Brownmiller) Trulsrud.
Trudy had a remarkable professional life. After graduating from a provincial teachers' college, she began her teaching career in Zeneta in 1947, a profession she was very proud of and loved to tell stories about for her entire life. She later came to own businesses in a wide range of industries, including farming, owning hotels in Kelvington, Bradwell and Hanley, Kelvington Concrete, Tru-Span Lumber in Kelowna, and Trudy’s Boutique, a craft and gift shop. She also worked in various management and bookkeeping roles, showcasing her versatile talents. Trudy generously volunteered her time throughout her life, including as a board member of the Kelvington Hospital and as Chair of the St. Volodymr Community in Saskatoon, where she lived independently for the final 14 years of her life.
In her personal life, Trudy was a woman of adventure and many hobbies. She loved to travel, with her journeys taking her to places like Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona and Norway. She also enjoyed puzzling, reading, crafts, curling and golf.
Trudy's greatest pride was her family. She and her former husband, George (1931-2017), had four children, ten grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren: daughter Cindy, son Greg (Rosemarie), son Les (Brenda), and son Glenn (Donna). She was a loving grandmother to Stephen (Georgia), Brent (Sam), Samantha (Kelly), Justin (Lindy), Colin (Charlene), Jena-Le (Jeslin), Jennifer (Brian), Lindsey (Jason), Trevor (Stephanie), and Candice. Her greatest joy were her great-grandchildren: Kale, Eden, Brady, Sophie, Madisyn, Gunner, Vanessa, Skyler, Landon, Rayna, Jackson, Thomas, Graeme, Brooklyn, Mazzy, and Hudson.
Along with her Canadian family, Trudy maintained a close relationship with her extended family in Norway throughout her life and was very proud of her Norwegian heritage.
Trudy was predeceased by her parents, Andrew and Gladys, and her brother, Raymond.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Trudy's memory to the SPCA or a charity of your choice.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Astrid 'Trudy' Erixon's care and arrangements.
