It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we announce the passing of Ashley Marie Giesbrecht of Warman, SK, at the age of 42. Ashley peacefully left us on March 6, 2026, with her family by her side.
Ashley was born on April 5, 1983, in Prince Albert, SK. Right from childhood it was clear that Ashley had a big heart with a willingness to help and care for others. This continued into her adult life and Ashley was always the first one to help someone else and her caring nature led her to work as a daycare provider in her own home daycare for many years as well as a personal care worker for the elderly. She always loved and cared for every child or every patient as though they were her own flesh and blood. That was just her nature, loving, caring and willing to put the needs of others ahead of her own.
Ashley was also a very fun-loving, intelligent, and funny person who at times could even be somewhat handy. One of her favourite things was being in nature, especially at the lake. She loved the lake and the time spent there with family and friends. Whether it was at Candle Lake visiting her parents or Memorial Lake at her seasonal site, she loved it all. It was her happy place, and she cherished the time and the memories made there with family and friends.
Above all else Ashley was a mother of two beautiful children, Kaden and Mya, and one fur baby (dog), Charlie. She loved her children immensely and always said that she simply could not have imagined a world in which she did not have them. The moment Charlie entered her home she became the most spoiled dog in the world as Ashley could not resist those puppy dog eyes.
Ashley’s caring nature wasn’t always the best thing for her as over the course of her life she had many struggles with her mental health, and those struggles ultimately led her down a path to addiction. Ashley always had so much love to give others, but she often forgot to love herself. She started using alcohol early in her adult years as a way to cope with her inner struggles. Unfortunately, this led her to addiction, and the disease that would ultimately consume her. She battled for many years trying to overcome this disease, but it was simply too strong, and, in the end, she was never able to conquer it.
Ashley was a beautiful person and a beautiful soul that was taken from us far too soon. She is survived by her loving parents, Sandy Peterson and Todd Bernier; her two children, Kaden and Mya Giesbrecht; her brothers, Micheal Montour (Ashley Snow), and Josh Bernier (Riley Conine); her nieces and nephews, Emmie, Cooper, Bradley and William; her grandparents, Ken and Carolyne Peterson, and Don and Judy Bernier; and her loving dog, Charlie. Ashley will also be deeply missed by her entire extended family and many friends; her ex-husband Clay Giesbrecht and his entire family; and the countless other people who were touched by Ashley over the years.
We are devastated to lose her so soon and her loss will truly be felt by all that knew and loved her. Ashley was surrounded by her family in the final days and hours before peacefully entering her eternal rest.
Family and friends are invited to join us in a celebration of Ashley’s life which will be held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at the Brian King Centre, 202 8 Avenue N, Warman, SK. Service to start at 2:00pm with refreshments and fellowship to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial donations be made to St. Joseph’s Addiction Recovery Centre in Estevan, SK. There is not a direct donation link so all donations will be collected by Sandy Peterson and can be sent via e-transfer to petersonsandy@hotmail.com or a donation can be sent directly to 1176 Nicholson Road, Estevan, SK, S4A 0H3. This donation will be made in Ashley’s memory to help others who may be struggling with addiction.
Martens Warman Funeral Home is honoured to be entrusted with Ashley Giesbrecht's care and arrangements.
