Obituary

Arnold Rudolph Klassen January 1, 1947 – October 16, 2026

Arnold Rudolph Klassen, eldest son of Herman and Helen Klassen, was born in Abbotsford, B.C. on January 1, 1947. Arnold and his five younger siblings grew up on a small dairy farm just outside of Abbotsford, and, quite literally, learned about work the hard way. Arnold grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior in his childhood years. He was baptized at East Aldergrove Mennonite Brethren Church on September 8, 1963.

Arnold married Ruth Duerksen on May 26, 1972 and together they began to make music together, combining their violin, guitar, piano and vocal abilities to lead church choirs, vocal groups and worship teams for the next 54 years. Throughout their marriage, Arnold pursued a variety of employment opportunities in several provinces: stuccoing, plumbing, Music and Home Entertainment sales, Klassen dairy farming, and Wiseman’s Way Christian Bookstore.

Three precious children were born to Arnold and Ruth during these years: Andrew (1974), Jonathan (1977), and Rebecca (1981). Arnold loved directing his church choir in the 1980’s, leading Christmas musicals and singing powerful 4-part harmonies in praise to the Lord.

After moving to Osler, SK. in 2021, a door opened for Arnold to sing again the old gospel songs he loved so much, leading worship services in various local Care Homes.

On April 3, 2026… Good Friday!... Arnold learned he had terminal pancreatic cancer. Despite the shocking news, Arnold looked calmly at the doctor and said, “I’m at peace with the Lord and I’m ready to go Home!”

Arnold passed away quietly on October 16, 2026. Arnold is survived by his wife Ruth, three married children and seven grandchildren… Andrew and Shawna Klassen, with Sarah and Joshua; Jonathan and Jennifer Klassen, with Kenton and Caleb; Rebecca and Nathan Gray, with Amy, Katherine, and Zane.
